I remember my last day of school as a cosmetology student in 1986 at New Carrollton Beauty School. I wore an all-white uniform, white support stalkings, and white nurse mate shoes. On my last day of school I carried my beauty kit down the stairs without a clue of what to do next.
It didn't take long for me to realize that I had a passion for education. I began my career as a Cosmetology educator in 1994 and I have been teaching ever since.
In 2008 I owned and operated my first beauty salon, Born Beautiful. This is where I experience most of my growing pains as an industry professional and salon owner. The lessons I learned during this time I share openly as a learning tool for my students during their cosmetology training.
In 2014, a single mother, full-time employee, and CEO of my own business, I decided to take a leap of faith and started my journey to achieve my BBA. I was so excited when I completed my education and it was time to celebrate my accomplishment during graduation in Baltimore Mayland. In December 2019 I got sick with an "undiagnosed" sickness but was determined to walk across the stage to get my degree. I am grateful that I survived the illness and was able to meet my goal. As we all know the world and how we live in it changed shortly after my graduation, due to the Covid-19 Pandemic.
In April 2021, I completed my training and received my certification as a hair loss practitioner. Ms. Kim's Beauty will soon be offering products and services that meet the needs of people suffering from alopecia.
